About Us

Nick and Ngoan first met in person at South OC Cars & Coffee in San Clemente in August 2023 after trolling each other endlessly on Instagram. A few months later, Nick convinced Ngoan (and a few other degenerates) to join him for a private track day at Chuckwalla on March 17th, 2024.

Nick’s event was a huge success, just not in terms of maximum car count. Honestly, no one is sure if Nick even made any money — but the idea behind it was solid: a private, low-car-count event where everyone knew each other, everyone had experience, and most importantly, everyone stayed safe with zero ego. After that first event, Ngoan loved the concept and asked if he could help with future ones. The only things he could really offer were building a website and making memes. Nick reluctantly agreed, and that’s how the collaboration began.

The hardest part was choosing a name. The obvious first idea involved using the word “Speed,” but we didn’t want to get sued by every track org with “Speed” in the title. Eventually, “Tamale” came up because Nick’s family has a tradition of making delicious Costa Rican tamales during the holidays. We jokingly called the group “TamaleTrackDays,” and even though it started as a joke, the name stuck—so we ran with it.

To make everything official, we met at an In-N-Out in Costa Mesa, CA (Nick also has a strange obsession with this place) on May 16, 2024, and that’s where TamaleTrackDays was truly born.

Our goal was—and still is—not to make money, but to create a fun, safe, low–car-count environment where our friends can enjoy track days and go home safely every single time. And although we have fast drivers, that isn’t our main focus—our priority is experienced drivers with zero ego so the event stays safe and enjoyable for everyone.

For anyone who has come to one of our events, thank you so much for the support. We genuinely couldn’t have done this without you. If you have more questions about our organization, please submit an inquiry here, or reach out to Nick (@ontrack_offroad) or Ngoan (@ngoansx) on Instagram. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, and we hope to see you at one of our next events!
